Heraklion Port is divided into the old Venetian port and the new port for passengers and goods. The Venetian harbour of Heraklion is at the end of August 25th Street, the cobbled road starting from the centre (Meidani, Lions square) and ends at the Koules fortress. This is the old port of Heraklion which houses boats and yachts, and its history is as old as the city of Heraklion. The new, modern port of passengers and goods starts east of the old one.
