Immerse yourself in the heart of Cretan culture with a cooking class that offers more than just recipes, it’s a journey into tradition, nature, and authentic hospitality.
Begin your day with coffee and homemade treats before gathering fresh ingredients straight from the garden to create classic Cretan dishes. Learn to cook beloved recipes like lamb in a wood-fired oven, dako and kalitsounia, all prepared with love and fresh, local ingredients
1, Welcome and Introduction (30 minutes)
Begin the day with a warm welcome and traditional hospitality.
Enjoy coffee, homemade lemonade and traditional cookies as we get to know each other.
2. Garden Harvest (15 minutes)
Take a stroll through our garden.
Pick fresh vegetables and aromatic herbs for the day’s dishes.
3. Hands-On Cooking (3 hours)
Prepare Cretan classics like:
Cretan Salad (tomato, cucumber, onion, pepper, olives, myzithra)
Dako (traditional bread with tomato and cheese)
Kalitsounia (cheese pies with myzithra and onion)
Gemista (stuffed vegetables)
Boureki (zucchini, potatoes and myzithra)
Lamb with Potatoes (in wood-fire oven)
Enjoy freshly prepared dakakia as a mid-session snack.
*Depending on the season and what’s fresh in our garden, our cooking class may include a few extra seasonal dishes.
4. Farm Connection (1 hour)
Visit the stable to meet the animals and experience milking.
5. A Step into Tradition (30 minutes)
Visit the grandmother’s house for a glimpse into traditional cheese-making. Sip on tsikoudia, savour shortbread, and learn about the family’s wine-making process at the patitiri (wine press).
6. The Feast (1 hour)
Return to the table is set with all the dishes you’ve prepared. Enjoy a leisurely meal accompanied by Romeiko wine and lively conversation.
7. Sweet Finale (30 minutes)
Relish a traditional spoon dessert, like neratzaki or quince, paired with tsikoudia or racomelo.
End the day with live Cretan mandolin music.
