COOKING LESSON & MEAL BASED ON CRETAN CUISINE

Cretan traditional cuisine is a way of life.
It is simple without extra spices or flavour enhancers but only with a great amount of imagination.

If you are interested in Cretan cuisine, Greek food or you just love cooking, we invite you to participate in the Cretan traditional cooking lessons that are hosted in our home, in a small, traditional village close to the town of Rethymno we cooking for many many years.

At our garden, we cultivate organic vegetables and fruits for our needs. You can enjoy the Cretan cuisine because We like to take care of our land and produce our own olive oil.
We cook, taste and share with them, the magic of the traditional Cretan cuisine!!!

Seasonal greens, herbs, fruits, wild greens, fresh milk, fresh meat and of course the gold of Cretan land, the olive oil.
With these ingredients, we are preparing the dishes that are known from our grandmothers and are part of the Cretans daily diet.

We wish to give to friends of Crete, the experience of our true life and true traditional food, far from tourist attractions!!!
The menu can be modified for our vegetarian guests.

During the lesson, we will give you useful information regarding the Cretan diet.
At the end of the lesson, we will make a gastronomic feast where you will enjoy all the dishes we have prepared together.


What includes the cooking lesson ?

APERITIF (Cretan Welcome...!!)

RAKI OR GREEK COFFEE
Raki is a famous local drink

CHEESE PIES
Small pies with homemade cheese and honey (kalitsounia)

DURING THE LESSON

KREMIDOKALITSOUNA
Small pies with onions

CHORTOPITES
Small pies with many (10-12) different wild greens

SFAKIANES PITES
Pies with homemade cheese. Sfakia speciality (Sfakia is a village on the Cretan mountain)

APPETIZER

HOMEMADE CHEESE
Homemade cheese with fresh milk from sheep and goats
(we will prepare it together)

TZATZIKI
Strained yoghurt, cucumber, garlic and olive oil
(we will prepare it together)

GREEK SALAD
Greek salad with homemade barley rusk, tomatoes, cucumber, green pepper, onion, caper, kritamo, olives, and off course enough olive oil.

PEPPER STUFFED WITH CHEESES
Pepper stuffed with feta, homemade cheese, kefalotiri baked in the wood oven

DOLMADAKIA
Stuffed vine leaves, zucchini flowers with rice, vegetables, herbs and olive oil
(we will prepare it together)

KEFTEDAKIA
Fried meatballs
(we will prepare it together)

MAIN DISHES

MOUSSAKA
The famous Greek dish (potatoes, zucchini, aubergines, minced meat in tomatoes sauce, béchamel) in the wood oven
(we will prepare it together)

GIOUVETSI
Rooster with orzo in the wood oven (traditional Sunday dish)

All these are accompanied by plenty of homemade wine

DESSERT

GREEK YOGURT OR HOMEMADE ICE CREAM WITH SWEET SPOON
Strained yoghurt or homemade ice cream with homemade fruit-sweet

RAKI - HOME MADE LIQUEUR - FRESH SEASONAL FRUIT
