Roussospiti is the "balcony of Rethymno", as they call it, because of the unique view it offers. It is within 5.5 km from the city of Rethymnon at an altitude of 300 m.
You can reach the village following the Theotokopoulou Street in Rethymno, after about 10 minutes through the village of Small Anogia and the Monastery of St. Irene. There is another path, 9 km, from Missiria node, passing the monastery Halevi. The village lies on the slope of Vrisinas at an altitude of 300 meters and 9 km from Rethymno and it has 374 inhabitants. In 1583 there were recorded 157 inhabitants. In this village with wonderful views of the Cretan Sea there are many Venetian houses, a fountain of the 17th century and the church of Virgin Mary, where there are several frescoes.
