Georgioupolis is a small seaside town in the prefecture of Chania, about 38km southeast of Chania at the western Crete.
Georgioupolis is on the borders between the prefecture of Rethymno to the east and the prefecture of Chania to the west, being within the latter. Almyros River flows in Georgioupolis, and shortly before reaching the sea it forms a small lake that is home to many birds and animals. The lake is seen from the highway, as you approach Georgioupolis from Chania. Entering the village you will see many eucalyptus trees, both on the road and in the square, and a row of cypress trees that create a beautiful picture.
